Yesterday was not such a good day. I did not sleep one minute Monday night, but did go back to bed and sleep for about 45 minutes in the morning (around 9:00) after Steve had got up.
I finally got hair done and dressed around 11:00, after doing a couple of loads of laundry in 'moo-moo' mode.
Bobby Curl brought another pick-up truck load of ear corn. All the containers down at the barn are full. Thank God for bounty and good friends who will help. Ronnie showed up at just the right time to help un-load the corn, and he is such a great help, doing anything I ask. He's strong as a horse, and works like one. He remembers to feed the cows bales of hay every other day.
He had killed a coyote over on Ted Collin's farm the other day. They are such a problem.
Steve was working on a pump down at the well house. A capacitor had exploded. It's ironic that I used to make and test them for AVX in Myrtle Beach. A new one is going to cost $50.00.
He says he can't use any of the pumps we have. It's a booster pump.
Our water is brown, again. It's not such a good prospect to run a bath and see water in the tub that's as dirty as Richlands Creek. I'm so tired of having to buy water.
After doing the corn, Steve and I went to Down Home for lunch (at 4:00). We then came home to start 'the second shift'.
I fed, then went to work in the Hut.
I am putting acoustical ceiling tiles on the walls in the bedroom for insulation, and I needed some 'rosettes' to keep it in place. I had bought a huge bag of them some time ago, and I started looking for them. I couldn't find them anywhere. It got more and more frustrating. I finally gave up the search about 7:30, and told Steve I was going up to the Family Dollar to visit with Joan.
She's a great relief valve for me.
Alyson and I put up stock and cleaned shelves. Joan had given me several large sheets of double cardboard a few days ago, and I'm using it for insulation in the bedroom of the Hut, too. I'm going to put laminate over it, so it will be a dead-air space in the wall. It's easy, free, and low-labor.
When I came home, Steve had found the rosettes out in my hatchery, where he had stored them in a very unlikely place...in with the heating appliances for the water containers at the bird houses.
I took them up to the Hut and started putting them in place, and they made a huge difference right away. I had used roofing nails before, and they looked so ugly.
When I went in up at the Hut, Smokie saw me going in, and he came running across the yard and up the steps to join me. He loves to lay in front of the heater on a rug I put there for him. He's had a bad cold, and he's older now, so he loves his comfort.
I got one of my heating pads for the pets and put it in a plastic dog house on the back porch for the cats before I came in for the night. He went right to it. It was pretty warm this morning when I went out to feed them. He looks like he's feeling some better.
I got ready for bed, and laid down across the bed. I don't remember much after that, but Steve said he couldn't wake me when he came to bed. I guess I about died. I was so tired.
There's much to do.
